First Letter to French Penpals!

Bonjour!  Are you excited to get to know your French correspondant (penpal)?  We will write to them frequently throughout the year, and perhaps do some projects together.  To access your penpals email account, go to: www.epals.com and enter your username and password: hounds 

Then, click on Mail (left-hand side of the page). Click on the email if there is one.  Click on "Reply" and type your message.  Rememer to let me check it before you send it!

If there is no email yet, don't worry!  Your partner may have been absent.  You can send them the first email.  Click "Compose" and enter your correspondant's email address.  Type a subject (such as Bonjour! or Salut!) and then your message.  Be sure to let me check it before you hit Send!

Using French accents:  Visit http://french.typeit.org/ to copy and paste French accents.  Remember they are important for correct spelling!

When Done: Visit Digital Dialects and select a French learning game for fun and practice!

Bonjour et bienvenue!  I am so happy to have you in class!  I can't wait to join you in our exploration of the fabulous French language and culture.

About Me:  I am thrilled to be joining you at Healdsburg High School!  I just moved to Sonoma County from San Francisco where I taught English and French for six years.  Before that, I lived in France, Illinois, and Connecticut (I am originally from the East Coast).  I taught high school for a year in the South of France and fell in love with the French way of life.  I go back every chance I get!

About the class:  Be ready to jump in, work hard, and speak French every day!  Participation will be a must to make sure you are learning real-life language skills.  Also be ready to do lots of reading and writing, as well as creative projects and group activities.  We are going to work hard and have fun!

Materials:  You will need your textbook in class every day, as well as the workbook which you will use for homework most nights.  Remember not to write in the workbook!  You should complete your assignments on lined paper to turn in the next day.  In addition, you should have a folder or binder section for handouts, a notebook or note paper, as well as a journal (composition or spiral notebook is fine) for your daily journal activities.
